How to Eliminate Bed Bugs from Your Bed Using Dry Ice

While there are several ways to eliminate bed bugs, including various pesticides and rubbing alcohol, dry ice is an even more effective method.

The last thing you want to see in your bed is a swarm of bed bugs! Not only are bed bugs a nuisance, but they can wreak havoc on your skin. While there are several ways to eliminate bed bugs, including various pesticides and rubbing alcohol, dry ice is an even more effective method. There are already many uses for dry ice, and it’s also an excellent product for creating a DIY approach to handling these unwanted pests. Read on to learn how to eliminate bed bugs using dry ice.

Plastic Bag

The first process that involves dry ice is the plastic bag approach. You Use dry ice and a big plastic bag to create what will act as a fumigation chamber essentially. This step is especially useful for getting rid of bed bugs on items that are hard to wash, like toys, bulky bedding, pillows, and other items primarily located in the bedroom. The most important thing about using this method is that you properly handle the dry ice so that you don’t injure yourself in the process. Wear a thick pair of gloves and use tongs to maneuver the dry ice.

Talcum Powder

Think of this method as more of a trap. It includes about three pounds of dry ice, a large plastic pet bowl, insulated cup, tape, fabric, and talcum powder. Tape fabric to the sides of the container to act as a surface that the bed bugs will climb on. Turn the bowl over and rub talcum powder on the inside. The powder keeps the bugs from being able to escape. Next, using gloves fill the insulated cup with dry ice and place the cup on the bowl. The gas from the dry ice will attract the bed bugs, where they won’t be able to escape.
