How Dry Ice Can Help You Get Rid of Bed Bugs

Dry ice does quite well to get rid of those pesky bed bugs.

Of all things to find on your bed, bed bugs are the absolute worst. Bed bugs are tiny bugs that make their way into your bed at the most unexpected of times. Not only are they a huge inconvenience, but they also can bite you while you’re asleep, ruining your skin. There are a few ways to get rid of those pesky bed bugs. Whether it be a bug bomb or rubbing alcohol but unknown to most, dry ice does quite well to get rid of these pests. Read on to learn exactly how!

Plastic Bags

For this process to remove bed bugs, you will need a plastic bag and some dry ice. By using these two unlikely items, you’ll be able to create your very own fumigation system that will get rid of those pesky vermin. This technique effectively gets rid of bed bugs on items around the bedroom that they might have gotten onto, whether it be hard to wash like bedding, toys, pillows, or any other piece of furniture or item in your bedroom. While doing this process, make sure that you handle the dry ice correctly so you do not injure yourself. To make it easier to wield dry ice, make sure you wear a thick pair of gloves and some tongs to make it seamless to move the dry ice around.

Talcum Powders

Unlike the plastic bag method mentioned above, this method is more like a type of trap than fumigation. The components you will need are about three pounds of dry ice, a big plastic bowl, an insulated cup, fabrics, tape, and talcum powder. First, tape up the fabric to the sides of the big pet bowl to give bedbugs an exterior to reach and climb on. Next, turn your bowl over and rub the talcum powder on the interior of it. This is because the powder will keep the bugs from being able to escape. From here, use gloves to put the dry ice into the insulated cup and place it right into the bowl. The gas emitting from the dried ice will attract the bed bugs, and once they all land in the bowl, they will not be able to escape.
