Wow Your Preschooler with a Dry Ice Show

Preschool aged children are naturally curious, so why not show them how cool dry ice can be?

With all this time stuck indoors, parents are eager to find new activities to keep their kids entertained and occupied throughout the day. In fact, ice can come in handy when it comes to effectively wowing your preschooler with a dry ice show. The reality is, keeping kids busy can be a challenge for many parents. Here is a fun activity you can do with your preschool-aged kid to amaze and surprise them — with dry ice and more.

What You’ll Need

Here are the ingredients you will absolutely need before getting started. Most parents will have many of these key ingredients on hand already. Some of the most important ingredients needed include: liquid dish soap, containers of warm water, food coloring, safety goggles, tongs, oven mitt or rubber gloves, dry ice in a temperature-safe bowl, cookie sheet or container, and a hammer or mallet. These are the tools you’ll need to have a blast with your kids.

Extra Dry Ice — Time For Fun

If you happen to find yourself with some extra dry ice around — take this time to wow your little ones. In fact, many kids will get a kick out of the enjoyment that comes with a dry ice experiment. The reality is, this activity is a surefire way to get your kids excited about chemistry.

Warnings And Cautions

While having fun with ice is a great way to keep your kids entertained, it’s important to remember that you must practice safe protocols and procedures whenever handling ice. In fact, there is nothing more important than keeping your kids safe while using dry ice

A Fun Activity

First, you will want to add food coloring to the warm water you prepared. Then, have your kid place their hands on the outside of the actual container and ask them what they observe and how it feels. Then, it’s important you add soap to just one of the containers. You can then blow on the ice. Then ask your child again what they see. Finally, using the tongs, carefully drop a few chunks of ice into the containers. Ask your preschooler what they think is going to happen — and see what results.
